Win Love Finds You in Revenge, Ohio!

I can hardly believe that June is here! The year is flying by, and we're gearing up for an even busier summer (It's actually winter here, though it won't get very cold). We have over thirty people arriving throughout June and July for a well digging project and an English camp. Mid-terms are upon us for school, and I'm finishing macro edits for Blood Ransom and final edits on a medical thriller.

Yikes!

In the midst of these busy months, I'm having to remind myself of what is important. Remember when Jesus told Martha, "You are worried and upset about many things, but only one things is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken from her."

It's not easy to do, is it?

In these coming months, I really want to watch out for the pulling of the urgent and focus instead on what's important. I want to spend more time with God, and make quality time with my kids and husband. I want to really see those around me, and look for opportunities to minister. So while this world tugs at me with the urgent, Jesus said, "Seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33

In Love Finds You in Revenge, Ohio, Katherine Morgan has her hands full taking care of her three sisters and sometimes loses perspective on what is really important. If you love historical romance--with a handsome lawman, a con man, and grubstaker included-- I think you'll love this story. Carol Cox, author of A Bride So Fair says, ". . .riveting suspense, and enough twists and turns to keep me guessing until the very end. Fans of historical romance won't want to miss this one!"

So what things do you want to focus on as important during your busy summer? I'd love to hear your responses and let me know you'd like to be entered in this contest. I'll draw FIVE winners on Friday. If you're signed up for my newsletter, you'll automatically be entered. Leaving a comment here will give you an extra chance!

Blessings!

Lisa

  3. We don't have such a busy summer planned. No vacations or anything since I have to work. The boys will be helping out a friend from church at his non-profit.

I would love to be entered for the book giveaway! It sounds like a wonderful story!

  7. Hi Lisa,
This is my first time visiting your blog; you are a woman after my own heart. We just finished our 13th year of home schooling and I'm looking forward to a summer of more of God & family and resisting the urgent as well. Hoping to squeeze in some extra writing...waiting on God for inspiration and direction. Praying your summer is prosperous in every way.

The things I have planned for the summer are a family get-to-gether with my husband's side of the family here, a wedding also on his side, the waiting for two babies to arrive on my side, reading, gardening if we get some rain, garage saling-this Sat. being the last big one.
The big one is trying to find God's will for my life. Disabilities have plagued me, so I've lost track of His will. Could use your prayers. Thanks.
Please enter me for this book. Thank you.

  13. Thanks for stopping by ladies, and for being so candid, Linda. Health issues can be one of the biggest challenges we face as it ends up affecting every aspect of our lives. Praying that God will clearly show you His good and perfect will for your life as you seek it.

We all need to be reminded of Jesus' words to continue seeking Him, because He has promised that we will find Him. What a wonderful reminder for me too.

My summer will be kind of an extension of my winter and spring. I re-injured my back in January so am doing the physical therapy, pain, sitting around in the recliner thing since then. I am hoping for healing so that hubby and I can travel with the fifth-wheel trailer this summer. We weren't able to go anywhere last year because I couldn't stand to sit in the truck for more than an hour. God willing, we plan to leave here the end of August and travel for four days to Sheridan, Wyoming to visit an elderly aunt for a couple of days. Then north to Billings, Montana to visit my 96-year-old aunt who still lives in her own home for about a week. My sister will be traveling with hubby and me for all of this part of the trip. Once we are ready to leave Billings, we'll put her on the plane to fly back here to Portland, Oregon.
From Billings, Montana we plan to head north to spend about a week in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with my husband's family and good friends. It's a two-day drive from Billings to Calgary but we plan to spend an extra night somewhere along the way in Montana.
From Calgary it is three day's travel back home to where we live in Hillsboro, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. Guess it's a good thing we have three weeks.
I always take lots of books along on these trips to read while hubby watches the boob tube. I'd love to be able to take your latest offering along.

I have been a facebook follower for a little while. I enjoy reading about your life. Struggles with urgent things are hard. Which is more important at the time? God should be upper most but it is easy to put others first or step in where we aren't needed. I would like to be enter into the drawing for your new book. Other than your blog and facebook, I haven't read anyting else by you.

Thank you and have a great bountiful day.

  24. Hey, Lisa,
This summer I plan to really get healthy. I'm on a new regimen from a Naturopath, which seems to be helping a lot. I deal with food allergies, along with all of the other issues that come with middle age. Day by day, things are better!
I'm learning that being proactive with health care is the only way to prevent illness.
BTW, you are blessed to not have to navigate the pitfalls of our food culture... fast foods, high fructose corn syrup additives in almost every processed food, the busy lifestyles that eclipse the preparation of meals from scratch.
I'm also in need of an income. I cannot believe it's been over a year since I was laid off. But, God must have something really specific and wonderful in store for me. Preparation time! Mind, body, and spirit.
And, I'd love a new copy of your book, Lisa. I think I'm signed up for your newsletter, too.

  25. Exercise is something I admit to struggling with, Kristi, but you're right. It's so important! (Don't want to wait until it becomes urgent)

Glad you found something that is helping you. That helps a lot. I agree that we are blessed to not have all the processed food here, but I really need to get back into the swing of exercise. Praying God opens doors for a new job for you, too!
