Summertime Giveaway
We're getting ready to take the team who's been with us the past week to South Africa to catch their flight back to the States. To see all the videos and photos of our week, be sure and visit the team's facebook page.
While our family is in South Africa, we'll be spending two days as a family at Kruger for some much needed rest, as well as visiting the doctor and dentist for check ups and cleanings. So while I'll be off line for a while, I thought it might be fun to do a Beach Bag & Book giveaway as many of you head into summer.
The bag I'm giving away, was made by Dela Afakule, a wonderful Christian woman from Ghana living in Togo, West Africa. Along with her husband and their three children, they share their hearts and home to 8 other orphans and extended family in need. Dela hand-dyes fabric and sells these market bags, along with other products, to help support their family and ministry.
To learn more about Dela's ministry in Togo, please visit her facebook page.
The winner of this giveaway will receive one basket similar to the ones in this photo, and a copy of Blood Ransom.
To enter the contest, leave a comment sharing what you plan to do this summer to relax (or winter, depending on where you live :-)) along with a way to get ahold of you! I'll draw a winner on or around May 8th.
Be blessed today!
Lisa

I am planning on going to a ranch in Wyoming with the youth group kids. I think it will be relaxing - but probably not!

Blessings, Lisa
I'll be planning some celebrations this summer--my parents 60th wedding anniversary and a good friend's retirement party. But to truly relax, I'll escape in a good book.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I have really enjoyed your website and blog since I accidently discovered it--your family's service to the African people is wonderful. Enjoy your "mini-vacation."
Blessings to you.

Because of my husband's health problems,we've not been able to go on vacation in almost 4 years. This year, we are believing that we will be able to go to the beach for a few days R&R. Would love to have the bag and the book to take along.

We plan on going to the beach often, we have a place at Atlantic Beach, NC. A very small place, but we enjoy it, my husband loves fishing and so do the the grandchildren. I would love to be entered for your contest. I am looking forward to reading Blood Ransom, as soon as I can get my hands on a copy. Blessings.

Fun contest! Our plan (prayer) is for a boring summer. I know we are weird. With all of my daughter's hospitalizations, we have had our fill of drama.
ReplyDeleteWe plan on doing arts and crafts, going on family walks and being with friends.
We are planning on spending lots of weekends at Silver Dollar City this summer. We splurged and bought season passes for the family (about the same price as a 2 day pass). We haven't had a vacation in several years, so I'm looking forward to these mini vacations.

ReplyDeleteLisa, our family summer is going to be a hard one for the most part. My oldest (22) son died Dec. '09. So we keep going thru "firsts" without him. His birthday is in June. So I know that will be a hard time to get thru.
ReplyDeleteBut my hubby wants us to take a family vacation in August to get away for a little bit. It will be me, my hubby and our youngest son (21). We are going to head west and drive till we find somewhere interesting to stop.
I enjoy reading your blog and posts on facebook. Thank you for hosting this giveaway. I would love to win it.
Here is my info.

I'm taking a journalling class and purpose to write and pray. To take time to meditate and listen to the Holy Spirit. To trust more. I will pray for you and your ministry. Thank you for giving your all for Christ.
ReplyDeleteI read and reviewed Blood Ransom on my blog! Great book!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI pray you enjoy your time away.
We plan to go to a wedding this summer.
I'll be going to a friend's house for some R`n`R while hubby holds down the homefront, for 1 week.
That's about it for us.

We are going on a cruise to Alaska in July with our 3 grown children and can't wait! We are missionaries in Barbados and don't have nearly enough time with them!

No specific plans for the summer, but I am confident there will be plenty of trips to the St. Louis zoo and Magic House with the grand kids. Heading to San Antonio next week to spend some time with my dear friend Marie.

Thanks so much to each one of you who have stopped by. I've enjoyed your comments and reading about plans for the summer with friends and family. Praying for you Bev and an extra measure of God's peace as you navigate through the coming weeks and months.
ReplyDeleteWe hope to drive home on Saturday, a day or two later than we'd hoped, but have to have some repairs done on our car. Thankfully, we've not only got a lot of work and errands done, but have been blessed to get some rest and see some friends.
Blessings to each one of you!
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteMy summer this year will be a lot of day or 2 day trips. My son turns 4 at the end of May so we are having a birthday/cookout party for him to start. On top of having a almost 4yr old son, I have 6 granddaughters, ages, 11,9,6,2,2,& 6 wks old,.There are to many for us to handle on our own, all at once so thats why we do lots of day trips. (I also have 3 grown daughters)
Also my husband takes our son to a lot of tractor shows ( and Mom always has to go along)Believe this will keep me busy all summer. That bag would be great for all those little trips we have planned, with so many children you always have to have something, like cups, wipes, toycars, crayons & paper,Bubbie(his blanket)and lets not forget books for Mom to read and my notebook for my writing. My older granddaughters,Kaela,9,Lacie,6 and John,(my son) are also collecting shoes this summer for "Soles for Souls". Each summer the girls pick one charity and we collect something for them.
I hope sometime in there I get a chance to just relax.
Do they happen to have a store or site where you can buy those bags? They are beautiful and I wouldn't mind having a few.
